MIGRATING FROM FLUORESCENT LIGHTS TO LED TUBE LIGHTS

November 30, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The technology in lighting method has begun to attract citizens to shift from the traditional lighting system to the new and radical lighting solution referred to as LED technology. Increasingly more are deciding to migrate their common household lighting into this state of the art lighting scheme. There are only particular considerations prior to transfering into LED lights. Try to contemplate the next factors:

1. Power Rating ( This is the power rating of each probable appliance. This notifies the consumer on the energy requisite of any electronic or electric gadgets. Usually a four foot LED tube use 15 to 25 watts in contrast to the 30 watts of power employed by the fluorescent tubes.

2. Lifespan ( This is the rating calculated in hours. This denotes the work life of LED tubes depending on the frequency of use. Typically, 50,000 hours or more is the lifespan of any LED lights.

3. Lumens ( This is the potency of light that a specific tube or bulb outputs. It is intelligent to prefer the higher lumens. Look for lumen rating of 1500 or more.

4. Color Temperature ( This is the color of the light calculated in the unit of absolute temperature, Kelvin. Neutral light has a temperature of 4100K, red has 3000K (warm) and blue has 5800K (cool).

To provide  a credit to the development of fluorescent light, it has perform for many years, providing most of the household lighting requisite from all across the globe. When compared to incandescent lamps, they are 10 – 20 times longer in the terms of service life. It arrives in handy from several home depots and hardware. Though claimed effective as lighting method, fluorescent light has a lot of environmental problems related with it. In view of the fact that it contains mercury, the disposal will denote a hazard to the natural environment and to human being. Mercury dust could cause lots of neuro-related problems that could be mortal and sometimes deadly.

Due to the environmental risk of fluorescent lamps, LED tube light has appear into life. It has a lot of practical advantages over its counterpart like low power utilization that enables the customer an unlimited reduction in the electric bill. Furthermore it is approximately 5 times longer in lifespan than its counterpart. The characteristic of light it produces does not infuriate the human eyes, doesn’t add up to light pollution, doesn’t hold extreme heat as a result not a contributor to global warming, and most of all cool to the eyes because the energy is focused on the red and blue light spectrum and minimal on the yellow and green spectrum. It also perfectly fits into the accessible lighting fixture so there’s typically no need to buying another for LED lights.

In the above considerations, LED tube light is much better than the performance of the fluorescent light, but a bit more expensive but significantly reasonable by the great saving it features. LED tube lights is truly a further breakthrough in generating quality lights at a very minimal working expenditure, making each residence brighter than ever.

Understanding Global Warming

The specific cause of global warming currently remains a mystery even though scientific research is being done. Identifying the specific cause and retarding it’s growth are the target of diligent efforts. The likely results of global warming continuing at the current rate can be predicted. Although alarmists have made preposterous predictions of dire outcomes it should be kept in mind that there are some legitimate reasons not to ignore the issue entirely.

First, we all need to understand just what exactly global warming is and that is the increase of the average temperature of the surface air and the temperatures of the oceans. Indications are that the increases could become unmanageable if they suggest a trend and are left unchecked. Of course, many people and scientists are claiming that human activity could very well be the main cause of all of the problems with global warming. However, there is also the need to take natural causes into consideration.

Getting Educated

To insure that the gravity of global warming is understood by future generations education is  of tantamount importance. The problems could very well grow to levels of impossible proportions if we don’t take steps toward a resolution.  Our efforts will illustrate the importance of the problem to future generations. Students should be taught about global warming in their early grade school years. Even though the younger kids cannot understand all of the complexities of the situation, they can be taught a lot of the basics just to get them to understand age appropriate things regarding the situation.

As child progress into their older years then the teachings can get a little in depth within the schools. Projects and assignments on global warming is a great way to make sure that the kids are truly getting involved and that they are really thinking hard about this. Discussion of global warming within the family home setting is an excellent idea regardless of your school district’s policy on in depth teaching of the subject. If your school district does not teach on the subject then the home discussions will be their only source.  If the school does teach it, this will reinforce and impress the importance on the student.

How to Write a Business Finance Strategy

Having a successful business funding initiative is strongly contingent on developing a good business finance strategy. Here is a checklist and process for developing your business finance strategy. In my experience as  Business Turnaround Specialist, I see companies often lacking having a really good finance strategy.

Short-Term Finance Strategy

  • Inventory Control
  • Working Capital and Cash Needs
  • Accounts Receivables Management
  • Accounts Payable Management
  • Contingency Fund
  • Opportunity Fund
  • Make sure to have a believable  SWOT Strategy, showing realistically how you will generate cash.

Long-Term Finance Strategy

  • Equity split arrangements with Founders, Management, Key Employees, Partners and Investors.
  • Does Present Business Financing meet Long-Term Objectives?
  • Securities Law Compliance.
  • Liquidity needs and requirements.
  • Good fit with Investor Groups and Venture Capital Firms who can help meet long term finance goals and bring needed resources to bear.
  • Adequately planning Financing Rounds and Stages in your Company’s Growth Plans.  Too many rounds or stages without adequate levels of Capital Infusions can increase transactional costs, absorb too much of your Company’s time, curb timely development when needed, cause a strain of low cash reserves and reduce future finance bargaining leverage.
  • Formulate an Investor/ Venture Capital Profile which meets your Company’s Long-Term goals.
  • In the first round, raising too much or the wrong type of capital. Not using a reasonably staged business funding schedule. Having access to too much capital is just as expensive as too little capital in many circumstances. Failing to find a good mix between equity and debt will create a cash flow strain if too much debt, or block long term earnings if too much equity or the equity terms are cost prohibitive.
  • Linking your Strategic Plan Objectives, Goals, Milestones and Performance with your Equity Funding Rounds’ timing, terms and amounts.  Ensure you are not just trying to reach your Financial Goals but also meeting Managements’ Milestones.  Venture Capital’s performance expectation (when considering another round of funding) may not be solely reliant on Financial Performance, as much as, concerns about whether management is reaching its prescribed goals and milestones (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Link Your Business Finance Strategy’s Funding Rounds and Events to your Strategic Plan’s growth objectives so that your Business Valuation has increased to a level which allows you to significantly reduce the risk for follow on funding from Investors and Commercial Lenders.

A Well Designed Investor Profile

  • Does the investor share your Company’s Business Plan, as well as, your Vision, Mission and Objectives?
  • Do your liquidity goals coincide with the Investor?
  • Does the Investor bring the added expertise and resources your Company needs to be successful?
  • Does the Investor have too many other commitments?
  • Will the Investor be a long term of short term partner?
  • Can the Investor proffer additional capital if needed
  • Is the prospective Investor Group well connected in your Industry?  Have Credibility in your Industry?  What contacts do they have and how can they help you in developing important relationships?
  • Low quality Investors can lower your Company’s credibility in your business Community and discourage future Investor involvement.
  • Unsophisticated Individual Investors:
    • Can have too many demands on your Executives & Managers.
    • Can cause interference with Company Operations.
    • Won’t stick through the tough times.
    • Can be more risk adverse than they originally indicated.
    • Can create litigation issues.
    • Can be slow in making additional capital infusions.
    • Can discourage Sophisticated Investors from coming.
    • Can be too many individual Investors to effectively manage.

Note:  Groups of Professional Investors or Venture Capital Firms can often alleviate the above problems.

Funding Relationships with Suppliers and Industry Leaders

  • Will your Lenders, Investors, Joint Venture of Strategic Partners adversely affect potential customer or supplier relationships?
  • Can any of your Suppliers, Vendors or Industry Relationships be an investor in your Company?  Fit?
  • Is your Company viewed by any of your Suppliers, Vendors or Alliances as an acquisition target?  Will they spoil any other potential investor interest?  Will it adversely affect a public offering potential?
  • In Business Turnaround Strategy I see many companies not considering their supplier and industry relationships as viable funding avenues.

Structuring Business Finance

  • Is it closely aligned and a result of your Strategic Plan’s Objectives and Goals?
  • Is it flexible?
  • Is there room for negotiation?
  • What control and performance mechanisms are parts of the structure?
  • Have you run various Debt & Equity mix combinations and scenarios to see the effect on your Cash Flow and Profit & Loss?

Finance Cost Areas

  • Points
  • Commitment Fee
  • Loan Broker Fee
  • Legal Fees
  • Accounting Fees
  • Consultant Fees
  • Equity Compensation
  • Warrants
  • Options
  • Due Diligence Fees
  • Appraisal & Valuation Fees
  • Guarantees
  • Insurance
  • Misc Costs in Loan Conditions
  • Pre payment Penalties
  • Covenants
  • Advances
  • Default Provisions
  • Interest Only
  • Pay down Schedule
  • Interest Rate
  • Loan to Value or Cost

Consider the Impact of Different Business Finance Alternatives on Cash Flow, Financial Statements, Taxes and Accounting

  • Debt Service/ Debt Capacity
  • Dividends
  • Equity Agreements
  • Redemptions
  • Sinking Funds
  • Licensing Fees
  • Royalty Payments
  • Debt to Equity Ratio
  • Working Capital Flow
  • Acid Test Ratio
  • Return on Equity
  • Cost of Debt
  • Cost of Equity Capital
  • Zeta Score

Funding Deadlines and Scheduling

  • Is your Funding Schedule in synch with your Company’s Strategic Plan?
  • Is your funding schedule set up to maximize your valuation, thereby, minimizing dilution and lending/ investment risk?
  • Is your funding schedule set up to coincide with major Company Milestones?
  • Contingency Plans
  • How flexible is your Plan?  Back up Alternatives?

Executive and Management Time and Role Requirements

  • Who is to be involved in the financing process?
  • Roles to be assumed?
  • Time constraints.
  • Use of a Consultant?

Funding Overview

Suggested format for targeting Commercial Lenders:

  • Company Profile
  • Product and Service Description
  • Experience and Track Record
  • Market
  • Financial
  • Due Diligence

Soybean Complex, Corn and Wheat Market Commentary for 08-18-10

8-18-10 – Wheat Market Recap Report

September Wheat finished up 5 at 656, 9 off the high and 11 up from the low. December Wheat settled up 5 at 688 3/4. This was 11 1/4 up from the low and 9 1/4 off the high.

December wheat gained on the day after pushing lower late overnight and into the start of the day session. The market firmed to a substantial gain into mid morning before easing somewhat from its highs into early afternoon. The Canadian Wheat Board said today this year’s all-wheat production would come in near 21 million tonnes, up 100,000 tonnes from its July estimate. The CWB also expressed concern that the official acreage and production numbers due out from Statistics Canada on Friday would miss the full extent of acreage lost during the spring-summer planting season. The rally in wheat today also followed an announcement by Ukraine that it is considering limiting wheat exports to 1.5 million tonnes from September through October, and this was considered supportive by the trade. Reports of crop concerns in Western Australia are also considered supportive as the world’s wheat importers turn to Canada, Australia and Argentina for wheat later in 2010/11 following the droughts in Ukraine and Russia. Sources in Indonesia indicate that flour mills there have adequate supplies of wheat booked until October, but one analyst noted that this is somewhat thin coverage given the recent decision by Turkish suppliers to curtail shipments of flour to Indonesian due to reduced access to wheat from Russia. This comes as flour mills in Indonesia are expecting to increase imports of wheat in 2010/11 due to growing demand.

December Oats finished up 1 1/4  at 289 3/4. This was 3 1/2 up from the low and 2 3/4 off the high.

Soybean Complex Market Recap  for 08-18-10

September Soybeans ended down 10 at 1035 1/4, 13 3/4 off the high and 9 up from the low. November Soybeans closed 11 1/4 lower at 1030 3/4. This was 7 1/4 up from the low and 16 off the high.

December Soybean Oil ended 0.76 lower at 41.45, 1.1 off the high and 0.22 up from the low.

December Soymeal settled 0.2 higher at 300.0. This was 3.5 up from the low and 4.5 off the high.

November soybeans saw broad swings today with most of the day spent on the downside. This culminated with a late sell off that stopped short of the early session lows. Soy oil also sold off into the close while managing to hold above the early session lows. Traders said that a cooler weather forecast over the next week to ten days in the western soybean belt helped to pressure the market along with some selling in crude oil. Traders also noted that an improved weather outlook in Russia has helped to take the buying urgency out of the wheat market with this also serving to curb buyers’ enthusiasm in soybeans. The Midwest crop tour is showing an improved yield outlook in Indiana and a somewhat diminished outlook in Ohio with scouts also confirming the presence of Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) in Iowa. Illinois yields are showing signs of stress from the recent heat wave.

8-18-10 – Corn Market Recap Report

September Corn finished up 3 3/4 at 418 1/2, 1 1/4 off the high and 9 1/2 up from the low. December Corn closed up 3 1/4 at 433 1/4. This was 9 3/4 up from the low and 1 off the high.

December corn sold off to kickoff the day session in conjunction with lower crude oil and ideas that cooler weather may continue over the next week to ten days in the western Corn Belt. Still, a lack of sell orders and support from wheat helped to lift the corn market through late morning with the market ending the day just below its late morning high. The soybean/corn spreads saw moderate activity today, bringing some support to corn. In addition, the USDA announced a sale of 240,000 tonnes of US corn to Egypt this morning. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) released its weekly ethanol production report today. Ethanol production for the week ending August 13th averaged 860 thousand barrels per day, down 6 thousand barrels per day (-0.69%) from last week and up 133 thousand barrels per day (18.3%) versus last year. Total Ethanol production for the week was 6.02 million barrels, down 42 thousand barrels from last week. Corn used in last week’s production is estimated at near 90.3 million bushels. Cumulative corn used for ethanol production in 2009/10 stands at 4.26 billion bushels. The USDA currently forecasts corn/ethanol usage for 2009/11 at 4.5 billion bushels.

September Riceclosed 0.155 lower at 10.75, 0.155 off the high and 0.06 up from the low.

Wood-free items are becoming popular, while more pockets are added to boost usability.

China makers of file folders and holders are directing R&D efforts toward the use of environment-friendly materials. Functionality is being improved as well.

In line with these endeavors, more suppliers are employing wood-free and recycled paper. For the former, stone-based variants that boast better water resistance and degradability are gaining attention.

The use of such types also costs less than wood pulp counterparts as they do not require water and bleaching agents. Further, this reduces energy consumption during processing.

Unlike paper releases, however, many companies have no fixed manufacturing lines for stone items, fabricating only on request. Resultantly, suppliers often charge premiums for orders. Models from Ningbo Wonbon Paper Product Co. Ltd, for instance, are 10 percent more expensive than wood pulp versions.

As for recycled types, wholesale kraft is the most popular option because it does not tear easily. The material’s brown color also contributes to the environment-friendly appeal.

Ningbo Wyvern Paper Industrial Co. Ltd (Hong Kong Qingchun Industrial Ltd) is receiving increased orders for kraftmounted pieces.

Ningbo Wonbon, meanwhile, utilizes recycled materials for half of its output in the line. Such designs are priced 10 percent lower than virgin paper models.

Many suppliers are also improving product quality by adopting better manufacturing inputs.

Ningbo Libo Stationery Co. Ltd will release display books featuring 0.12 to 0.15mm-thick hot-pressed PP pockets.

Compared with traditional 0.5mm versions, these are less prone to folds and wrinkling. Quotes are 3 to 5 percent higher.

As regards greater utility, the trend is seen in the growing number of designs that can accommodate various paper sizes. Cover pockets and CD compartments are popular add-ons.

To enhance convenience, companies are producing file bags with perforated spines that facilitate fastening. This feature raises prices by 3 to 5 percent.

Ningbo Libo will create versions with zipper closures and clips for more organized filing.

Products & prices

File folders and holders in an assortment of sizes, including A2, A3, A4, A5, A6 and wholesale foolscap, are available from China. For folders, PP is the most popular cover material because of its strength and flexibility. Versions typically used are 0.12, 0.18 and 0.2mm thick. The last is six times costlier than the thinnest variant.

Other options are PVC and leather.

Many makers also employ virgin plastic, although it is double the cost of recycled counterparts. Models in the former material boast better durability and visual appeal. Prices are between 20 and 30 percent higher.

Paper releases, meanwhile, are 15 to 20 percent more expensive than plastic items. These are often made of cardboard and mounted on art, kraft and specialty paper, PP, PVC and leather. Some designs are in corrugated types, which are quoted 10 percent lower.

Most products have metal ring binders and spring clamps for fittings. Depending on the cover material and size, these versions start at $0.40 and can top $15.

Models with plastic slide rods go for $0.15 to $0.30. For more personalized filing, cover, spine and CD pockets are added. These bring up rates by $0.12 to $0.20.

As regards file holders, the line consists mainly of bag and book types.

Among the latter, standard styles boast 10 to 100 pockets, with those having 60 trays the best-sellers. These start at $0.25. The size and number of pockets are the price determinants.

File bags come in nonexpanding and expanding designs, which go for $0.10 to $0.20 and $0.75 to $3, respectively. Zippers, buttons and strings are the commonly employed closures.

China-made file folders and holders come in various colors and finishes, including glossy and frosted. Models in a combination of hues are being manufactured as well. Printed styles are quoted 5 to 10 percent higher than plain versions. More on Green models, better utility top trends

The Rising of the Green Living Trend

Every year, more eco-friendly enthusiasts are coming out of the woodwork. Increasing in its awareness is the effects of global warming to our environment, and more people want to help in making the earth a livable place for the future generation.

Rising across the globe is green living. There are areas in which recycling has not only taken off, but has become a part of life as well. Some cultures find recycling a necessity because their own natural resources are limited and they don’t have the funds to buy new items all of the time.

Companies now make cleaning and pesticide products eco-friendly. Instead of using chemical-based aerosols, more natural ingredients are used in the cleaning agents and bug-killing aerosols. They’re better for you and the environment.

People are now tending their own organic gardens. They make all living things healthier by eliminating the harsh chemicals that are released into the air and soil.

Walking or riding a bike is what green living enthusiasts are now taking to in order to help save the air from the congested traffic’s harmful emissions. Some are also beginning to carpooling to lessen traffic. They help the air become more breathable again.

More biodegradable products or products that are easily recycled are being bought by consumers. This helps keep the landfills from growing out of hand will all of the trash we throw out that won’t break down or will contaminate the soil and water supply.

There are those who are cutting down on energy costs. The less energy used in our homes, the better off the environment will be. Most of the energy saving tips are inexpensive and easy for anyone to do.

Over the last decade, water usage is coming down. The more global warming awareness that we put out there, the more people are trying to save the water supply by using less water in their daily activities.

Some people are even choosing to repair the broken appliances instead of sending them off to the landfill. Not only will you help the environment, you’ll save money as well. If it can be easily repaired, why not avoid throwing a perfectly good item away?

The bottom line is – more people are starting to care about the planet. The earth will continue to be a wonderful place to live for future generations as long as we do everything we can.

Any occasion is a special occasion. Celebrate the moments in your life with fashionable baby shower invitations and stylish party invitations that will make a lasting impression.

Four Well-Known Auto Manufacturers are Closing Their Doors

November 24, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The sales statistics have come in,and the doors are being closed to 4 major vehicle manufacturers, because of the economic crisis, and also to inadequately planned marketing decisions.

The shortest lived of the 4 was the Hummer 1 (Hum-Vee) and Hummer 2. The Hummer 1 was used extensively  and still is, in military machine operations. The Hummer 2 was designed as a domestic model, and was priced for the higher mid-income crowd, it also had higher gas consumption, leading the vehicle to be viewed as a gas guzzler. For all the dynamic “GI Joe” looks that the vehicle gave, the manufacturers weren’t able to get the gas fuel consumption rate in check fast enough to fit the times, public acceptance-and, for the price to fit into the new economy.

The second car creator is Pontiac, founded in 1939. The Trans Am is a well-known Pontiac brand, constantly in competition with the Chevy Camaro. The G8 and GTO were favored cars. Pontiac was considered General Motors (GM) major performance brand, however, it couldn’t stand the test of time and, like the Aztek that came and went, the Pontiac brand will now fade away .

Mercury is the third, having been founded by the very human that created the Edsel, Henry Ford’s son (literally, Edsel Bryant Ford), it managed to stay a-float from 1939, where the like of James Dean, in the movie Rebel Without a Cause, drove a 1949 Mercury coupe; unfortunately, Mercury will join the list and be history .

Mercury used Badge engineering which turned out to be a mistake; slightly re-designing stock vehicles and placing the Mercury emblem, claiming to brand it as a true “Mercury”. Badge engineering is used because of the higher costs of creating new vehicles from the initial design up, and introducing them at a high risk that car manufacturers don’t consider to be a good practice anymore. This procedure made things far more cost effective in creating Mercury’s production line. Unfortunately, the over-use of this policy was becoming more obvious ,and sales declines forced Mercury’s closure.

Finally, the fourth car company, The last of the 4, Saturn, was created by GM as “a different kind of car company”. The company had the policy; ‘not to haggle over price’, and kept their car’s fuel-efficient, in response to the massive onslaught of Japanese fuel-efficient imports.

Buying An Electric Hybrid Car And Save The Earth

November 23, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

With the environment being a key issue for many years now, the subject of global warming due to car emissions has become equally as important to most consumers. When you couple that with the sky-high price of gas needed to run most conventional cars, it is not a big mystery why hybrid cars are so enormously popular. Regardless of the reasons, it is obvious that hybrid cars are becoming a more viable vehicle choice every day. Who wouldn’t want to own a car that has so many benefits?

Who wouldn’t love to have that kind of peace of mind, right?

The main concerns that most people have regarding hybrid cars revolve around their performance and gas mileage. Since the hybrid does still use gasoline in conjunction with the recharging electric engine, how much better does it actually do on gas? Can they be driven as far or as long as the average regular car before they need to be refueled? Can it keep up with the rest of the traffic on the road? Will the gas mileage they get really be that much better with a hybrid? In short, is it really worth the trouble to own hybrid cars?

The truth is that hybrids do have a very comparable amount of power to their gas driven counterparts, they even have a very impressive towing capacity, even if it unusable due to the manufacturer’s warranty decision. Actually, hybrids do have a significant towing capacity as well, but the manufacturers have placed restrictions on the cars as to discourage misuse, so pulling a trailer does currently invalidate the warranty.

Other than the issue of being able to pull a trailer, hybrid cars have been proven to perform as well on the road as the average gas-guzzler. With the fuel efficiency that they offer, they can be driven even further before a refueling is necessary, and they can easily keep up with the flow of traffic without any difficulty. Less fuel consumption means better gas mileage and less noxious emissions to destroy the environment. This means they provide better mileage while also emitting less fumes into the environment. How can the cars of the past even compete with these cars of the future?

Other than getting a hybrid car, be sure to look at alternatives like biodiesel and also on instant car insurance quote.

BHM is “critical to the continuing needs of Port-au-Prince and the nation,” says John MacArthur, pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church and noted author. Long after international relief organizations have left, he says “Baptist Haiti Mission isn’t going anywhere.” And he’s right! Along with food, shelter, education and critical medical care, we offer the Good News of Jesus Christ, sharing the gospel through each and every ministry.

BHM “Serving the Whole Person”

Our mission is the propagation of the Gospel of Christ through evangelism, Christian Child education, medical services, and other ministries in the Republic of Haiti.

The commitment to help Haiti begins with the spiritual need of each individual, but it doesn’t end there.

Our work is broadly based around five key areas that help the Haitian communities address the root causes poverty, not just the symptoms. Five Key Ministries:

Evangelism: The spiritual needs of the people of Haiti are our primary motivation for ministry. Our greatest desire is to see the people of Haiti build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Education: We believe that child education is a basic building block to the path of a better quality of life and a sustainable future.

Health: The access to basic health care in Haiti is limited and far below world standards. We are working through our hospital and mobile clinics to minister to the physical needs of the communities we serve.

Relief: Haiti has one of the world’s highest risk potentials for major disasters. We address the daily emergencies that plague the people of Haiti on an individual basis and when disasters occur.

Agriculture and Self Help: We seek to help families improve their income and living standards through sustainable agriculture, employment opportunities, and self help programs.
